The original pet rock was a the brain child of Gary Dahl during the 1970’s. Although I am sure that you could probably buy a pet rock from somewhere (they do sell make your own pet rock kits), but we decided that would just raid our garden and make our own.
When we made ours we had some adults staying with us and even they wanted to get in on the action.
You will need:
Go out into the garden and find your rocks. EC came back with really great looking rocks and YC came back with half the garden on her rocks, so obviously you may need to wash and wait for them to dry before you can start painting.
EC getting right into painting his rock.
It was really interesting to see how everyone did different things, some decided to paint animals onto their rocks and others decided to turn their rocks into creatures.
Our guest having fun painting his giraffe.
After we left them to dry for a while EC had to have a lead for his new pets and now they have a home at the end of his bed.
