There are many ways that you can do this pumpkin patch sensory tray, we tried 2 different ways.
Make sure you follow my Halloween board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

The base of this tray is corn flower with some coco powder mixed in. What you add to it then is up to you. You can either leave it as that and get a brilliant silky “dirt”, you can add water to it to create a mud oobleck, or you can add oil to it to get a more mouldable soil.

We did it without adding anything to it and then added oil to it the next time we played with it. Both times NC played with it for about 30 minutes. Normally I would just leave a sensory tray out for kids to come and go from. Unfortunately, we don’t have a dedicated play space to use which makes that harder to do, especially for messy play.

The corn flour by itself does create a fair amount of mess (which is why I wouldn’t let her sit in that version of it), purely because it is fine and ends up coating the surrounding areas in dust. It was extremely easy to clean up though. After sweeping the stuff off the mats I used a damp cloth to wipe the area down. This also one clean up that little ones can help with.
