If your family loves getting creative, the new Cricut Maker 5 could be about to take your crafting to the next level. Designed for everything from personalised clothing and cards to stickers, decorations and gifts, this clever cutting machine gives you plenty of scope to get creative together.
The latest Maker 5 is 30% more compact than previous models, while still offering the same 12-inch cutting performance. It can work with more than 300 different materials, including vinyl, iron-on, cardstock, fabric, leather and foam core board.
This is where the Cricut Maker 5 really comes into its own. Whether you’re creating birthday decorations, personalised school supplies or handmade Christmas gifts, there are countless possibilities.
The machine can cut, write, draw, score, foil, deboss and engrave, depending on the tool and material you are using. It can even engrave materials such as metal and acrylic up to 3mm thick.
For families, this makes it particularly useful throughout the year. You could create personalised water bottles, T-shirts, party decorations, cards, gift tags or labels for school kit.
If you’ve never used a Cricut before, the number of creative possibilities might feel a little overwhelming at first.
Thankfully, Cricut’s free Design Space app has guided design flows, ready-to-make projects and step-by-step instructions to help you get started. You don’t need to be a crafting expert to begin.
The machine-only option is £349.99 and comes with the Premium Fine Point Cutting Tool, Scoring Tool, dual-sided marker, LightGrip mat and materials for a practice cut. There are also several bundles available if you want more tools and materials included from the start.
The Essential Bundle costs £399.99, while the Ultimate Plus Bundle is £559.99. The larger bundles include additional crafting tools and a wider selection of materials, giving you more to experiment with straight out of the box.

While the Cricut Maker 5 isn’t intended for children aged 12 and under, it can be a brilliant machine for parents to use alongside older children and teenagers.
It could be a fun way to work on creative projects together, from personalised gifts and decorations to cards, clothing and family celebrations.
There is also plenty of room to develop your skills as you become more confident. The Maker 5 works with 13 compatible tools, although some specialist tools are sold separately.
Another bonus is that you don’t need a subscription to use the Cricut Maker 5. Design Space is free to use and includes 3,000+ images, 100+ fonts and 1,000+ projects to help you get started. If you want even more creative options, Cricut Access is available as an optional subscription. It gives you access to a much larger library of images, fonts, projects and templates.
With the ability to work with more than 300 materials, from vinyl and cardstock to fabric and thicker materials, there is plenty to discover.
For families who enjoy crafting, the Maker 5 offers plenty of opportunities to get creative together, whether you’re making something for a special occasion or simply trying out a new project.
