Trips away to sunnier climbs might be a bit of an impossibility right now, but there’s certainly no harm in planning ahead when it comes to kit you’ll need for your baby.
Silver Cross has just launched the new and improved Jet stroller, dubbed “the global traveller”. We take a closer look at the Silver Cross solution for ultra-compact travel.
The Silver Cross Jet has been upgraded for 2020, with its ergonomic seat, wider front wheels, and improved suspension. New design features include a slick matt black chassis, textured weave fabrics, and tan leatherette handle and bumper bars. This buggy certainly looks the part.
But let’s rewind a little, and fill you in on the buggy as a whole.
The Silver Cross Jet arrives in a small box, packed with the chassis/seat unit with hood, wheels, protective cover, rain cover and instructions.
The inclusion of a rain cover makes the Jet well-equipped for all weathers, and we love that there are no necessary extras required.
It’s always satisfying to be able to assemble a product without any fuss, and the Jet certainly ticked this box. All you have to do is attach the bumper bar and wheels, and you’re good to go.
The Jet has been designed to be suitable for newborns up, thanks to its near-flat reclining seat. While many might prefer a cot bed for their littlest passengers, for trips away where space is a premium this buggy is a sensible option. It’ll also be music to the ears of many parents with reflux babies, desperately looking for an alternative buggy that will safely house their newborn in a more upright position for trips out of the house.
What’s more, the Jet stroller can be used as part of a travel system with the Silver Cross Dream and Simplicity infant car seats (sold separately), which increases your options for use.
Tested to 15kg, it’s suitable for kids right up to the age of approximately 3 years of age, which is the standard for most compact pushchairs.
The Silver Cross Jet is a small, agile, lightweight buggy, weighing in at just 6.2kg. We were really impressed with just how compact this pushchair really is; it fits neatly into the boot of any car, leaving plenty of space for changing bags and shopping.
With its one-hand fold and stand-up wheelable design, it’s the perfect option for overseas travel. Fold quickly, and carry with you in its protective cover, the Jet is cabin approved for most major airlines. (Do check before travel, as these things sometimes depend on the airline!)
The Jet is both ultra-compact and super lightweight, with dimensions measuring just 30cm (width) x 55cm (height).
But don’t be fooled: this is a small pushchair that packs a huge punch, making it a fabulous contender for a second buggy. Completely convenient, and brilliant for getting you out of the house with ease.

We’ve already touched on the improved suspension, but to reiterate, the Jet offers a surprisingly smooth ride for such a lightweight buggy. The Jet’s extendable hood offers UPF50+ protection with air flow ventilation and a pop-out sun visor. The hood’s peekaboo window makes it easy to keep an eye on your child in the world-facing position.
The buggy’s multi-recline seat moves up and down really easily via a toggle located on the back of the seat. The near-flat recline position is fantastic for the littlest babas and makes napping on the go super-simple. The most upright position still sits at a slight angle, which is typical of most lightweight/travel buggies, but with the Jet’s bumper bar, your older child is still able to lean forward safely and take in the world around them. There’s also adjustable calf support for added comfort.
As you’d expect from Silver Cross, there’s been no compromise on quality. The chassis is well built, and the buggy’s padded five-point-harness and buckle are substantial. The premium quality of the textiles and materials used on the Jet is in keeping with the rest of the Silver Cross luxury pram range.
The stroller’s basket is fairly small and only really accommodates the bare essentials. While this isn’t particularly surprising of a travel buggy, it’s worthing noting. The easy-to-use brakes on the Jet stroller are certified as being flip-flop friendly (hooray!), which is a MUST for those beach-side walks in the sunshine. Ahh, we can dream!
Jet Black is available to purchase now at Silver Cross retailers and online at Silver Cross.
