If you’ve ever travelled with a baby, chances are you’ll recognise a YOYO from approximately three departure gates away. Compact, lightweight and ridiculously easy to cart around, it’s become something of a parenting icon.
Well, there’s a new one in town.
Meet the Stokke YOYO5, the latest generation of the much-loved city and travel stroller. And while Stokke hasn’t messed with what parents already love, it has given the YOYO a clever upgrade.
We’re talking a one-hand fold, so there’s more room for little bottoms, better airflow, easier storage and lots of small-but-mighty tweaks that make getting from A to B with a baby a bit less chaotic.
And frankly, we’re here for anything that makes leaving the house easier.
Let’s start with the biggest news: you can now fold it with one hand, in one action.
Anyone who has ever tried to collapse a pushchair while holding a baby, changing bag, coffee and passport will understand why this matters.
Stokke has also made the seat wider and more generously padded, with extra seating space and improved back support. It also has a redesigned head cushion that moves with the harness to keep little heads and necks comfy as your baby grows.
In other words, the YOYO may still be teeny when folded, but your passenger gets a little more room to spread out.
Planning on taking your YOYO somewhere considerably warmer than Britain? And why not? The darker days are coming!
The YOYO5 has had an airflow upgrade, with a larger ventilation window plus a perforated backrest and seat base to help keep air circulating.

There’s also a bigger peek-a-boo window. So whether they’re snoozing peacefully or quietly posting snacks through the side of the pushchair, you can see exactly what your little passenger is up to.
This is where the YOYO5 gets interesting because, as any parent knows, the tiniest design details can make the biggest difference when you’re using a pushchair every single day.
The basket has been optimised with wider access from both the front and back. Translation: less wrestling underneath the pushchair trying to retrieve the one thing that has inevitably rolled to the most inaccessible corner.
The footrest is bigger and grippier, while an integrated removable leg rest has five positions for extra comfort. You can now remove the front wheels too, which makes the YOYO even easier to squeeze into tight storage spaces or pack away for a trip.
There’s also a new five-point buckle that lets you detach the harness with one click, plus removable shoulder protectors that make washing easier.
The seat recline has been refined, the canopy now has four positions, and finishing touches include a premium full-leatherette handle and refreshed Stokke branding.
Of course, travel is where the YOYO has made its name.
It’s lightweight. It’s ultra-compact. It folds down small. And when you’re navigating airports, trains, taxis and luggage with a small person in tow, all of that matters.
But you certainly don’t need a boarding pass to appreciate it.
The YOYO5 is equally at home negotiating busy pavements, hopping on and off public transport, squeezing between café tables or disappearing into a small car boot.
It’s designed to support little ones from birth and adapt as they grow, taking families from those first newborn outings through to the toddler years.
Nope. And we think that’s probably the point. Rather than completely reinventing one of the most recognisable compact strollers around, Stokke has concentrated on the bits parents actually use.
More comfort. Better ventilation. Smarter storage. Easier adjustments. And that one-hand fold.
The YOYO we know, just that little bit cleverer.
The Stokke YOYO5 is available now from Stokke. RRP: From £429.
