Who Is Supermum? And What Shoes Does She Wear?

Some will say supermum doesn’t exist. It’s a cruel myth that puts pressure on mothers who are doing their utmost to bring up children the best way they can. But, for me, supermum is a woman bringing children into the world, managing to run her own life as well as theirs. Granted there will always be the woman sleeping very few hours, running her own business, and maintaining that gym body. Everyone’s situation is different – don’t forget that. You’re doing great, I promise.

Recently I discovered FitFlop, a comfortable footwear brand made for superwomen. They were so set on it being “for superwomen” they made it their tagline. When I think of superwomen, I think of my mother. Uma Thurman, the face of FitFlop, shares that opinion and defines superwomen as “all women who are taking care of their children, their parents and contributing to society, working and providing for their families.”

Brands are going above and beyond to offer advice and support to consumers. FitFlop are no different, but they’re a brand whose ethos matches up with My Baba, not only when it comes to empowering our super mums, but also in being serious about both comfort and style. With this in mind, I started thinking about supermum. What does she wear? A cape, obviously. But what does she wear on her feet?

Something comfortable

Supermum is too busy for uncomfortable shoes. She needs something simple with the right amount of support. Something for the school-run and the office.

ÜBERKNIT™ Slip-On High-Top Sneakers look pretty sleek and stylish. But are they comfortable? They’re only ergonomically engineered for out-of-this-world comfort. We just can’t top that.

Something you can slip on

We don’t know about you, but slip-ons are an absolute saviour when rushing about in the morning. But let’s face it, winter is here and ballerinas just don’t cut it.

MUKLUK SHORTY II In Suede seem almost too good to be true. Slip into a cosy soft cloud of sheepskin lining. Fold them up to keep your calves toasty, or fold down that cuff and show off just how snug you are.

Something that fits around the shape of your foot

Despite being foot-shaped, not all shoes are kind to your feet. We’ve all been caught out in ill-fitting shoes and sores on our feet. Let’s all just put these days behind us and step into something comfortable.

I’m so over Chelsea boots that look fabulous but are lacking in the comfortable and durability department. That’s why I was so pleased to find FitFlop’s Superchelsea™ range. I can’t wait to get my hands on these SUPERCHELSEA™ Snake-Embossed Leather Chelsea Boots.

Something that offers support around the ankles

If you spend most of the day on your feet, you’ll need something that offers the right amount of support.

With wrap-around elastic Xs, these SUPERFLEX™ Leather Ankle Boots are no less than excellent. Expert-approved, these shoes promote healthy and happy feet.

Something that makes your feet look fabulous

I didn’t think FitFlops could get more stylish than those snake-embossed boots until I came across the SUPERSKATE™ Mules In Velvet. You had me at mules in velvet, FitFlop.

And what does she want for Christmas?

I know I’ve got my eyes on some super fluffy and cosy slippers. These HOUSE™ With Pom Poms Shearling Slippers would go down a treat! Even more so because part of their proceeds go towards Habitat For Humanity.
