Activities & Days Out / 21 July, 2019 / Nanny Anita
When I worked for Disney Cruise Line we often had to come up with our own crafts and activities for the area that we were in (for our own sanity as well ). I came across this craft by pure accident. I happened to be cleaning up in Pixie Hollow, which was a room themed around Tinkerbell and her friends, and noticed that some wet tissue paper that had been left out had stained some of the table. This started a new activity that I would bring out at least once a cruise (normally when I was stuck in Pixie Hollow) and was always a huge hit, because even the very little children could do it.
* The only problem with this craft is that you need to have tissue paper that doesn’t have a wax coating to it or the colour wont run. We had to search through our collection of paper to find some that worked. Basically you want to buy a cheaper product.
Tear up the tissue paper into lots of pieces.
Let them draw their picture onto the paper.
Take a piece of tissue paper, place it onto the design then using a paintbrush cover the tissue paper with water.
Remove the tissue paper and put into a bin or container (it will stain work surfaces as well). You should be left with a beautiful coloured transfer.
I had originally decided to do this with my youngest charge, as my eldest charge had a friend over, but they both spotted me setting it up and wanted to join in as well. They all seemed to enjoy doing it and really took their time to design their picture and paint it with the tissue paper. The results were fabulous and they pictures are now hanging proudly in the playroom for everyone to admire.
