Butterfly And Flower Activity

I am sure that if you use Instagram and look for kid’s craft ideas you probably would have come across these butterfly cardboard cut outs for taking on walks to add flowers too.  They are pretty cool, which is why I decided to try my hand at making these butterfly and flower activity.

Make sure you follow my outdoor activity board on Pinterest for more ideas.  Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

To do your own butterfly and flower activity you will need:

  • Cardboard
  • Cutting knife
  • Screwdriver
  • Paint (optional)

Cut the side of a cardboard box off and draw your butterfly onto that.  Now you can paint it and cut the outline out.  I decided to paint mine an iridescent pink, but I didn’t have a box cutter at the time to cut it out (I do now).  When it is ready, use a screwdriver to poke holes throughout the butterfly’s wings.

The hardest part of this is actually getting dry enough weather to go out a pick flowers (like dandelions/daisies etc).  Every time I get spare time at work with my charges it starts pouring down with rain.  If the rain is constantly ruining your plans, then you could always buy a punch of flowers and use them to stick through the holes instead.
