Maths and English Easter Egg Busy Bag

I am on a role with new busy bags, today it is Maths and English Easter egg busy bags.  There is a reason for lots of busy bags, it is much easier for me in my new job to have a couple of busy bags with me at all times to do during school pick ups.

Make sure you follow my Easter craft idea board on Pinterest for more ideas.  Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

To make your own maths and English Easter egg busy bags you will need:

  • A container
  • A5 index cards
  • Pens
  • Bananagram tiles
  • Small bag

You can either do this as a maths or English activity.  Draw out an egg outline on your index cards.  Through the middle of your egg draw some lines to divide the egg into multiple segments.  In each of those segments write either a letter or a maths sum.

If you are doing it as a maths activity, then once they have solved the question in a segment, they can colour that segment in.  I did mine so that the answers would be one of 4 different numbers.  Then they had to colour in that segment with the correct colour for the number.

If you are doing it as an English activity, then have a bag of tiles with letter on.  Get your little one to pull out one tile from the bag.  They need to search the egg to see if that letter appears on it.  If it does, they colour the segment in.  If it doesn’t then they put the tile back.
