Snowmen Kirigami

Kirigami is one of the easiest crafts to do that only requires 3 items.  I am sure you have all done some form of Kirigami at some point.  Ever made a paper snowflake?  That is kirigami.  Kirigami is the Japanese art form of paper folding and cutting.  I have made so many kirigami snowflakes over the years.  I am fairly sure I do some every year.  This year I have done a slight variation and been making Snowmen kirigami.

Make sure you follow my Christmas board on Pinterest for more ideas.  Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

To make your own snowmen kirigami you will need:

  • White paper (origami paper is the best)
  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Coloured pens (optional)

If you don’t have a square piece of paper, you will need to turn your A4 paper into a square.

Once you have a square, fold the paper in half to make a triangle.

Fold the right corner of the triangle over the middle line.

Do the same with the left side.

Fold the triangle in half again.

Cut the top part off so that you are just left with the cone part.

On one side of this cone draw your snowman design.  Part of the design has to join up to the other side of the cone.  On mine it was the snowman’s hands.

Carefully cut out your design and open it up.

If you want, you can decorate your snowmen.

You can also try doing a Christmas tree version, which I think I like more than the snowmen ones.
