Winter Salt Paintings

Salt is actually a fun art medium; it has many different ways that you can use it.  One way is to dissolve it in water and paint with it.  I was using it to create snow effects on these winter salt pictures.

To make your own Winter salt pictures you will need:

• Dark card stock
• Warm water
• Salt
• Paint brushes

Add the salt to the water and mix it, keep adding salt until it no longer dissolves.

Create your pictures using the dark card stock as the background.  I used the leftover triangles that I had from my scrap paper Christmas trees to create a forest scene.

When you are ready use the salt water to add the snow onto your picture. If you are not feeling particularly inspired, you could simply use the salt water to create snowflakes.

Once the water dries you will be left with a thin layer of salt that looks like sparkly snow.
