As we start a new school year it is time to bring out some activities that will help getting little ones ready for writing. This craft stick tracing activity is to help with those pre-writing skills by helping build the foundations needed for drawing and letter formation.
Make sure you follow my writing activities board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

Use a hot glue gun to glue the craft sticks onto the piece of cardboard. You could make up any sort of pattern for this. I made 5 different patterned boards including chevrons, straight lines, wavy, a square, and a triangle.

When the boards are finished, slip it into a zip lock bag. Then get your little one to practice following the patterns between the craft sticks using a dry erase marker. When they have finished you can simply wipe the pen from the Ziplock bag.
If you enjoyed this craft stick tracing activity, be sure to check out my dot-to-dot letters, and salt writing trays.
