Gingerbread Play Dough Invitation To Play

I love a good play dough set up and this gingerbread play dough smells fabulous and is a fun invitation to play for little ones.

To make your own gingerbread play dough you will need:

• 1 cup of flour
• 1 cup of water
• ¼ cup of salt
• 2 tbsp cream of tartar
• 1 tbsp of oil
• Ground ginger
• Ground cinnamon

Add all the ingredients into a pan and mix together on a low heat.  Keep mixing until it starts to look like mash potato and the dough comes away from the sides in one clump.  When it is like this take it out of the pan and kneed it into a smooth dough.  Do make sure you let it cool down before you do this step as it will be rather hot.

Set it out with some gingerbread men cutters and other items that might be fun for your invitation to play.  I added Hama beads, buttons, gems, mini candy canes, and mini strings of Christmas lights.  If I had had some mini bows I would have added them too.

These sorts of set ups are great for children to play with either by themselves, with siblings or friends, but also for the adults to get involved too.  It is very stress relieving.
