Last year I did a citrus sensory tray with a handheld juicer to use. NC did really struggle to use it at that point. It was heavy and too big for her to really control properly, but it is a useful tool to help strengthen hand muscles that will be needed later for writing. As she is now a year old it was time to bring it back out for this new pom pom and water sensory tray.
Make sure you follow my sensory board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.
There is literally no prep time for this, simply put everything into your sensory tray and ta da you are all done. This properly has to be one of my quickest set ups! As the weather has been so glorious you might want to take this activity outside to use.

Naturally as this sensory tray has water in it NC loved it. The first time we used it didn’t go quite as planned. NC kept wanting to get more water into her bowls, but I didn’t add any pipettes for this reason. I knew if I added them, she would ignore the juicer. This did not go down well, and NC got so frustrated that she ended up throwing the bowls across the room. That put a stop to the activities that day which also did not go down well. I brought it back out the next day and it was a much calmer experience.
If you want to reuse this activity over a few days make sure to take the pom poms out of the water. I used the juicer to squeeze out all the water and then left them to dry on the lid of the sensory tray.
