NC loves a sensory tray, she just loves filling up the bowls and pouring the contents from one container to another. Is she bothered about the theme? At the moment, no. As she gets older that may change. I could have just put plain rice into the tray, instead I made a Valentines heart sensory tray.
Make sure you follow my Valentine’s board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.
*The real reason that I wanted to do this sensory tray was because I bought these gorgeous lucite heart blocks from the site Playful Little Me.
To colour the rice put it in a container with a squirt of hand sanitiser and some paint. When it is all sealed up give it a good shake. Pour out the rice onto a tray and leave it to dry. This is a step that little ones can help us with. NC helped me with this with the last sensory tray . This time however, I did it during her nap time.
Put all the rice into your sensory tray with some bowls, scoops, and any heart related things that you might have.

I left this sensory tray out for a good couple of days and NC loved coming back to it each day. In fact NC’s mum and grandmother also enjoyed playing with it.
